The first half of 2017 is almost over, and with that we have seen some pretty impressive movies and also some not so impressive ones. Now, it is time to gear up for the next half of the year. Plenty of movies have been lined up for release.
Here are some of the upcoming movies you have to watch out for –
Producer Dinesh Vijan of Cocktail fame has turned a director with this movie. Starring in lead roles are Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput. The role of the female lead was initially offered to Alia Bhatt and Asin before Kriti came aboard. The story is of two lovers who meet in the present and also hundreds of years ago. Raabta is slated to release on 9th June, 2017.
The super duo of Salman Khan and Kabir Khan has joined hands again for this movie after success of Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The movie also stars Sohail Khan, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu in the lead roles. The plot is set during the Indo-Chino war. It is inspired by the Hollywood flick “Little Boy” by Alejandro Gómez Monteverde, released in 2015. The movie is slated is to release on Eid 2017.
Sridevi is once again ready to rock the silver screen with her home production movie Mom. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, this movie has actors like Akshaye Khanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sajal Ali and Abhimanyu Singh. It is a thriller movie about mom who is challenged and what length she can go for her child. Movie hits the screen on 14 July, 2017.
Ranbir Kapoor turns producer with Jagga Jasoos. Also producing the movie are Anurag Basu and Siddharth Kapoor. Directed by Anurag Basu, it stars Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina in the lead. Jagga Jasoos is musical adventure romantic comedy film. After many changes in the dates, 14 July, 2017 is finally locked as confirmed release date.
Munna Michael is a dance film directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Viki Rajani. The film stars Tiger Shroff in lead with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nidhhi Agerwal. The story is about a boy who was a huge fan of Michael Jackson and grew up dancing on his songs. Nawazuddin plays Munna’s talent manager with Nidhhi playing the love interest. The movie will release on 21 July, 2017.
Haseena: The Queen of Mumbai
Shraddha Kapoor stars in as Haseena: The Queen of Mumbai, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Nahid Khan. The movies is based on Haseena Parker, sister of the Don Dawood Ibrahim. The first look of the movie shows Shraddha in a never seen before avatar and received plenty of positive reviews. It is said to be release on 11 October, 2017.
When Harry Met Sejal
Imitiaz Ali directs this romantic drama starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Evelyn Sharma. The Ring (proposed name) is produced by Gauri Khan and Imtiaz Ali. The film has multiple locations in Europe and India. This is the third collaboration of Shah Rukh and Anushka and has already created a huge buzz. It is scheduled to hit the screens on 11 August, 2017.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a satirical comedy film starring Dum Lagake Haisha fame actress Bhumi Pednekar and Akshay Kumar, who is also the co – producer with Neeraj Pandey. It is directed by Shree Narayan Singh. The film is about PM Narendra Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyan with special importance on open defecation problems majorly faced in rural areas. It will release on 11 August, 2017 alongside The Ring.
The much awaited sequel to the 2013 hit comedy Fukrey is finally happening. The entire crew and cast remains same with addition of Sayani Gupta of Jolly L.L.B fame. The film is currently in production and will release on 8th December, 2017.
Tiger Zinda Hai
Since the announcement of Ek Tha Tiger sequel, this movie has been much hyped about. The Salman-Katrina starrer will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced under Yash Raj banner. The plot revolves around RAW agent being presumed dead but summoned by his agency to fight an international terrorist organization. The movie is set to release on 22 December, 2017.
